Luncheon on the St.Croix River.
Oil
36”x48” canvas.

This is my spin on the “Luncheon on the grass” Edward Manet, 1863. This French Impressionist artist stirred a controversy over his submission to the Salon, that displayed painting approved by the official French academy. He took a classical approach and twist it with modern day settings of his time.
This is my mashup on local scene with classical composition from an old master, Enjoy!!
